Nestled between the Indian and St. Sebastian rivers, the city retains its own distinct Treasure Coast charm. And that beauty even caught Washington, DC’s attention: back in 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt issued an executive order declaring Sebastian’s Pelican Island the first national wildlife refuge in the United States!
Sebastian has been ranked “extremely livable” thanks to its weather, low crime rates, number of local amenities, and high graduation rates. And it can represent a deal, as well, since the median home value is eight percent lower than the rest of Florida! Not only that, but the numbers get even better when you compare them with the rest of the United States: the median home price in Sebastian is 14 percent lower than the national average, while the number of owner-occupied households in Sebastian is 26 percent higher than the national average.
