If you’re traveling in the home of Delta Blues in Mississippi looking for fun and a little gambling excitement, you might want to visit Harlow’s Casino sitting on the Mississippi River close to the bridge connecting Mississippi and Arkansas. Harlow’s Casino is the newest casino in the Delta region. One of three casinos in the Greenville area, Harlow’s Casino is not a large casino by Tunica or Gulf Coast of Mississippi standards, but the layout is such that you never feel crowded. For the size, it packs a lot of excitement and entertainment into a small, but beautiful environment.
The gaming floor in the casino houses 33,000 square feet filled with table games, such as Blackjack, Three-Card Poker, Mississippi Stud, etc., as well as a seven-table poker room and over 900 slot machines. For those wishing to participate, there is the Delta Rewards Players Card which will allow the player to earn points toward meals, gift shop items and same day cash back. (For more information on how to use comps in casinos, refer to my article, “What Are Casino Comps and How Do I Use Them?)
One of Harlow’s drawbacks is that they only offer two restaurants which is limited compared to other casinos. The Hollywood and Vine offers a deli style atmosphere for meals and is open 24 hours a day. If you’re looking for a more diverse meal with variety for a reasonable price, the Legends Buffet is a reasonably size buffet with little wait time and plenty of seating. Food is served in a clean atmosphere and is very tasty.
One of the biggest attractions to me is Harlow’s Casino is their Celebrity Arena seating over 2,500 and where they bring in a variety of attractions. In the next few months they will be visited by such artists as Ashton Shepherd, Roy Clark, Amanda Overmyer, Jeffrey Osborne, and Bucky Covington. In addition, there are two additional stages, one on the gaming floor and one in the hotel lounge, featuring a variety of local bands and artists.
Harlow’s Casino has a new hotel with more than 100 rooms, but I did not have any trouble making a reservation on a weekend. The rooms are extremely comfortable and roomy with all the modern amenities of a nicer hotel. Rates run around $100 a night.
I would recommend Harlow’s Casino to anyone wanting a little trip in the Mississippi Delta. It is located on Highway 82 west approximately five miles from Greenville, Mississippi. If you decide to visit around the Greenville area, there are three additional casinos located on the river, the Lighthouse Point Casino, the Las Vegas Casino, and the Bayou Caddy’s Jubilee Casino.
Harlow’s Casino has one restriction that I’ve not found most casino properties to have, and that is that they do not allow anyone under the age of 21 on the property. So if you are thinking of making this a family trip, I would discourage that idea. Where most allow children in the dining areas and hotel, Harlow’s Casino does not.
